Hot air balloon safaris in Masai Mara, Serengeti National Park, African safari

This is probably the most scenic balloon flight in the world and the ultimate African bush safari experience. Hot air balloon safari can be arrange in Kenya (Masai Mara) and Tanzania in Serengeti.

Often, balloon riders are picked from their Serengeti (Central) and Masai Mara lodge or camp at 0500hrs, and transferred to the launch site. At the hot air balloon ride lunch site, you will meet your pilot for briefing and watch inflation of your balloon before take off.

Take off is at approximately 6.30am as the sun rises. You float in any direction the winds of the morning take you. Your pilot will precisely control the altitude of your balloon flight and every so often flying at treetop height, occasionally lower, giving you a unique perspective of the plains and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife below – quite a spectacular scene to behold.

At times the balloon flight pilot will ascend to 1000′ or more to see the scale and wonderful panorama of the Masai Mara and Serengeti. The flight pilot must put more heat into the balloon with the powerful whisper burners. Meanwhile these burns, there is moment of silence apart from the natural sounds below.

The balloon flight lasts about one hour depending on weather conditions. On landing, you celebrate in the traditional champagne style, an excellent sparkling wine. This will be followed by sitting down to a full English breakfast prepared and served in the African bush in an ‘Out of Africa‘ experience.

After breakfast you receive your balloon flight certificate and then driven back to the lodge or camp with game sightings en route.
